Microsoft OneNote 2016 Desktop is back with New Improved Features

Microsoft has changed its mind on killing off the OneNote 2016 desktop application. Microsoft has decided to continue mainstream support for OneNote 2016 beyond October 2020.

This means you can continue using the application and expect to see new feature updates. The support dates for OneNote will align with Office 2019 support dates, which are October 10, 2023, for mainstream support and October 14, 2015, for extended support.

1. Office Lens

A sister application that is available on all smartphone applications. OneNote 2016 allows users to take photos using their phones and send them directly to the application. The application can now convert images of block text into easy-to-read, computer-formatted pages.

2. Notes from the web with Microsoft Edge

If you are using Windows 10 and the new browser Microsoft Edge, you can now draw right on the page you are accessing, then clip the note you’ve created with the click of a single button.

3. Send notes to yourself via email

Microsoft has now added [email protected], as a way to collect and send notes to yourself. Some people keep very large email archives and there is need to make their reference work a seamless one.

4. Sharing

Microsoft OneNote 2016 has now given you the ability to share your notes and collaborate with others on the notebook's content. On the right top corner of the application, you only need to click or tap and choose their email to upload and export your content.

5. Smart Lookup

Microsoft has now included a smart lookup to the OneNote 2016 interface. This means you can now add more information to your Notebook in the form of photos, links, research and web articles. Another feature is synching, where you can sync a notebook across multiple platforms.

If you’re making an upgrade to OneNote 2016 from OneNote 2013, you will still have all the features you used to have, and you will notice a few new ones as well. Key notable features in OneNote 2016 include the ability to insert videos into a page, take notes right in the web, send notes to yourself in email, clip the web with Clipper and capture images on your phone with Office Lens.
